TO ANNOUNCE TWO NEW SINGERS!
Steven Bak grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and began singing in church at the age of five. At age seven he started taking piano lessons and learned to play guitar at age fourteen. Steven has always been a natural musician, and sang in both school choirs and local rock bands while he was in his teens. After high school, he fronted a few bands and further developed his passions and talents for music. It was that passion and talent that took him to Berklee School of Music in Boston in 1999, for a degree in Professional Music. After attending Berklee, Steven then moved to Portland where he has been involved in a number of musical projects and bands (such as Sixty Grit, Seven Year Tango, and The Shape of Fire). He is currently one of the KJ’s (karaoke jockey) at Chopsticks II and Chopsticks III in Portland, where he gets to keep up his singing chops and learn many new songs. Steven will be going back to school this fall for a degree in Psychology and is currently in the process of composing original music for his wedding in August.
A.J. Rogers was born and raised in Indiana near the southern shores of Lake Michigan. While she was never able to attend any sort of music lessons, she loved to sing and did so constantly from the time she was four years old. Once A.J. was old enough to join her school and church choirs, she did so immediately. From that point forward, she has been singing in musical theater, chorales, show choirs, and small vocal ensembles ever since. In fact, the four-part female vocal ensemble to which A.J. belonged, received the first place gold medal in the annual Indiana State School Music Association Solo & Ensemble Contest every year from 1998-2002. In 2006, A.J. graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a double B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy. She moved to Portland shortly after that, where she met her soon-to-be husband, Steven, and in 2008 began attending Lewis & Clark College for her M.A. in Counseling Psychology.
